Do you do a year in review too?

Like the ghost of Christmas past coming to show you all the places you failed, could have done better, tried your best and things still fell apart, had to learn things the hard way…phew…it can feel like you’re being haunted. I used to shy away from the ghosts, the shadows and my own dark places but now it’s actually ok when the ghost comes to me in the middle of the night and takes me on a journey through the last 12 months. 

Being real about how 2022 unfolded is one of the biggest gifts December can bring…shine a light on those failures, own them, see who you’ve become because of them, feel all the feelings…and then celebrate them with gratitude because LIFE IS ALWAYS HAPPENING for you….(even when it feels like it’s against you sometimes). 

Your life is leading you to your greatest purpose.

Your life is telling you where it’s meant to flow.

No one makes it through a year without failures or ghosts or dark moments. If they tell you otherwise, they are hiding something. In writing this post I want to normalize failing and failing a lot. I want you to approach your end-of-year review with a sense of gratitude and peace for all you were challenged with and all you accomplished. 

Let’s get into the ritual. 

Really the ritual begins an entire year prior when I purchase a notebook solely for the purpose of self-reflecting and visualization. As I’m learning the lessons, I write them down. This year I bought this notebook.

So I grab my notebook, start a fire, dim the lights, and put on some music. This year I listened to this expansive playlist.

Next is probably the most important step of all – setting my intention. 

I will tap into my intuition to understand what I really need at the moment. 

Do I need to be gracious with myself this year as I look through the pages?

Do I need to be focused? What do I need to be focused on?

What questions do I want to be answered at the end of this review?

What lessons are becoming patterns for me? What lessons am I repeating? 

In order for us to get out of our own way and get out of toxic patterns to keep a list and recognized what lessons we are repeating so we can become more aware of them to finally break that cycle.
