Taking the leap from full-time photographer to business coach may feel scary, but it doesn’t have to be. Life coaches, business coaches, business consultants – whatever you choose to call them all start at the same place.

3 steps to become a business coach:

Do 1:1 mentorships with people who want to learn from you. Use this as an opportunity to be a business coach without actually being a business coach.
Create a small group coaching program. This can be a replica of your 1:1 mentorship program but with a larger group as you start to understand their business questions.
Keep track of the most commonly asked business questions. You will use this list of business questions to draft your first business course or business coaching curriculum.

5 crucial steps for a successful business coaching program:

Determine your course outcomes. What is the overall goal of your program? Do you want to help professional photographers make millions of dollars? Do you want to help generate business ideas? Get clear on the outcome and build from there.
Decide what type of business coaching is right for you. You can launch an evergreen course, mastermind, guides, workshops, 1:1 coaching, or something else we haven’t thought of yet!
Create a timeline. Coaching programs range from a few weeks to even years.
Develop a curriculum that follows your coaching program.
Create the overall structure. Will the coaching program be self-paced or will you have structured timelines? How often will you have live coaching sessions or will you have none at all?
