Today’s podcast isn’t about cancel culture, it’s about accountability. 

It’s about having the courage to chase after what’s right, not just for yourself, but for others, too. 

This story has been a nightmare in the making for years, and today, Jamie Findlay is speaking out on the Play It Brave podcast. 

You may know my friend Jamie as the boss lady behind Evolve Workshops, not to mention her thriving business as a traveling lifestyle and editorial photographer. When I had the opportunity to serve as Jamie’s business coach and mentor, she blew us all away when she earned over $70,000 in just 2 months. Her success didn’t go unnoticed.

Here’s the part where I need you to pay attention: 

Jamie’s story isn’t meant to scare you. It’s meant to EMPOWER you to stand up for yourself.

After being approached by representatives from Dean Graziosi, Jamie was honored to chat with them about the success she had experienced in her businesses. She was led to believe she was being featured in a new online education series for business owners and entrepreneurs, backed by Graziosi. Even though she knew of this entrepreneurial superstar and his respective programs, she had never been an actual student of Dean’s. Jamie was told that if selected, her story had the potential to reach an audience of millions. After a few chats with Team Graziosi, Jamie never heard back. She shrugged it off and got back to work, knowing another big opportunity for her business wasn’t far away. It wasn’t until months later that her phone began blowing up. It was a quiet afternoon before Jamie received dozens upon dozens of texts and DMs from friends and colleagues.

“How the HECK did you get in with Dean Graziosi?” 

“This new program with Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins looks incredible. What did you think of it?” 

“Did your sales EXPLODE after you took Dean Graziosi’s new course? Your success story was so inspirational!”

Um. Excuse me?

The struggle that followed was a hard lesson for Jamie and a warning to you: When you’re looking for your big break and your chance to be in a room with big industry players, you need to believe in your ability to propel your own success.

Some parting words when it comes to protecting yourself from those who’d take advantage of you:

1. Anytime you’re going to give any kind of financial information, images, testimonials, stories, you need to get clarification in writing (contracts, contracts, contracts) that outlines how that information will be used. Remember this. Tie a string around your finger if you have to.
2. When you’re looking for your big break, your chance to be in a room with big name people whom you idolize, you need to believe in your own ability to propel your own success.
3. Don’t just follow the fame and money. Actively seek out authentic businesses to open your wallet for. Don’t just buy for a name or a promise. Due diligence is up to us. Trust your gut. Lean into your intuition.
