Getting into a Natural Rhythm:

• Avoid turning on indoor lights and let the daylight flow in. Wake and go to bed with the sunrise and sunset. This allows your body to get into a circadian rhythm by tapping into your internal clock.
• Science says that when you take in a vast view your body will naturally release stress. Be intentional about taking in a view more often.

The Positive Effects of Walking:

• For someone who can’t just sit and BE, walking is another way of being intentional about your thoughts while doing nothing else.
• Walking is an escape from always trying to be efficient and producing something.
• The act of walking, whether it be outside or on a treadmill, has great effects on our creativity.

Turning Away from Technology:

• Use a real candle or a red light before bed to balance out the blue light you’re taking in a lot of the day.
• When it comes to using devices within your family, it’s important to not only enforce “rules” for your kids surrounding the time on electronic devices, but also have it as a principle for yourself and model that behavior.
• When not on your devices tap into your creativity in other ways, whether it be through conversation, painting, walks, etc.
• Boredom is okay. It’s just a form of releasing the need to be DOING something all the time and it allows you to tap into your creativity and imagination.
• Take apps off your phone so that you can’t just mindlessly scroll or always be checking notifications.
• Replace phone apps with the analog version: calendars, timers, clocks, watches, record players or radios, atlas books, encyclopedias, etc.
