Some SEO Wins You Can Achieve Right Away with Ryan Moreno

About Ryan Moreno:

Ryan is a former photographer turned ShowIt website designer who quickly learned the power of SEO for businesses, especially creative businesses like mine in the wedding industry where SEO was not being utilized. Ryan has become what I consider the industry’s biggest expert on the subject, and is sharing a wealth of knowledge in this episode that you can’t miss.

Three Focus Areas of SEO: 

Technical SEO: 

  • What most people think of when they think of SEO (and they get overwhelmed thinking about it)
  • Not the most important part of SEO
  • File compression and naming, meta tags, coding, etc.

Website Design:

  • Google looks at user behavior on your website, there’s positive and negative behavior (ex: back button, closing the page, etc is negative)
  • Keys to good website design: simple, gets the information to the user, and it’s easy to navigate

Content:

  • People use Google to find an answer or solution to their problem. We get found by creating content that answers questions and solves problems.
  • Put information in an organized way on your blog.
  • Before creating new content, go through old content and reformat it using Ryan’s guide (3 Days to Better SEO)
  • Put the common questions as headers to increase your rankings

The biggest mistakes people are making with their blog posts:

  • If your blog isn’t ranking, it’s because there isn’t enough quality content in that blog.
  • Pleasing the reader should be your number one goal. Are you giving them enough value?
  • Don’t start with the idea that you need to blog once a week or month. Focus on creating 3-4 quality posts per year.

Blog Content Quick Tips:

  • Write at least 1000 – 1800 words. This shows Google you’re serious about the topic.
  • Use 15+ of the same keyword on the blog post (in a non-spammy way)
  • Types of Keywords Broken Down: 
    • Short-tail: Wedding Photographer
    • Mid-tail: Cincinnati Wedding Photographer
    • Long-tail: Cincinnati Fine Art Wedding Photographer
    • Think about what your ideal clients are typing in when deciding what types of keywords to use.
    • Getting more specific brings in quality leads/visitors, but fewer visitors overall. The broader (short-tail) the more hits you’ll get, but less quality leads.

Things to remember about SEO:

  • It’s more about content than anything else. If you’re putting out good content, you’re more likely to get ranked on Google.
  • SEO is a long-game strategy. If you want to establish yourself in the industry as an expert in your field, then SEO is for you!
  • SEO is a free and fairly simple way to generate leads and income for your business. Why not utilize it?
