The Life-Changing Power of Saying No

One thing I’ve come to accept over the past decade? Some people think I’m kinda mean.

Yup!

In fact, I’ve worked hard at it. It may sound silly right off the bat, but let me explain…

Ten years ago, I realized I was sinking SO much time saying yes to things I didn’t really have time for.

Saying “yes” to favors or gigs and giving away so much of my time because I was afraid that if I said “No” they would think I was rude, unfriendly, and hoity-toity. It felt so much easier to say “yes” than to say “no” or “actually, that’ll cost more.” I just couldn’t deal with the raised eyebrows that would come my way if I spoke my truth. 

When I started honoring my time and intuition, I had a few people believe that I was being difficult, mean, or high maintenance. Fear based behavior sounds a lot like this: 

“What will people think of me?”

“What if I hurt their feelings?”

“What if they tell other people that I’m mean and they all misunderstand me?”

“What if they don’t like me anymore?”

When you’re just doing you, unapologetically, you set your own boundaries. The best part of that, is that you start respecting the boundaries that other people set for themselves, too. It’s such a win-win, because you show up to every relationship authentically and resentment free. 

You have sexy boundaries and you know it.
