Meet Nicola Dixon:
Nicola is a photographer, podcaster and launch strategist based in the UK. She loves to travel, play outside and spend time with her beloved Dalmation, Margot. Nicola discovered early on in her career the burnout that comes from overbooking which led her to develop her first digital product. Since then, she has dedicated herself to creating and launching successful digital products. Her goal is to help photographers avoid burnout and make money doing what they love with her clear, straightforward approach to launching digital products.
My journey from teacher to photographer to million dollar business coach (the short version):
- Began with a teaching degree and teaching full time
- Entered the photography industry in 2013
- Attended photography workshops and realized I could create an abundance of wealth doing something I loved to do
- Learned repeatedly from failures and successes as a photographer and educator, started collecting a bank of questions from students
- Began developing courses focused on the most common pain points for photographers
- Launched my first digital product in 2016
- Continued to work on my digital products and business coaching that lead to my first million dollar year as an educator
3 crucial mistakes to avoid when entering the education industry:
- Rushing into a course launch. This mistake will cost you. What you are selling must be a quality product and deliver on the value that you promise to give your students. If you rush, you risk missing out on giving your students a high quality, high value course that will make them into loyal clients in the future.
- Launching a course before you have established yourself as an educator. Every good educator has established themselves as such before launching a paid course. This could take months or even years to do, so it is important to have a long term vision for your business.
- Not differentiating yourself from other educators and courses. To truly add value, you have to develop a product that people need. The industry is saturated with education so you have to stand out and be different.
- Does your content support what you are selling? The way you are perceived on Social Media is crucial to your success as a business. The content you create should reflect what you are selling to attract and retain the right audience.
- Are you sharing everything about your life or just what makes sense to your target audience? Just because your brand may be “personal” does not mean you have to share about every little piece of your life, just the parts that matter and resonate with your target audience.
- Are you giving away your energy on Social Media? If your brand is speaking to everyone, your brand is speaking to no one. Don’t give away all of your energy on social media and leave yourself empty to create what is most important in your business.
