Raise your hand if you’ve ever had clients contact you to work with you, but then at some point you never hear from them again? My hand is raised mighty high over here, because it’s more common than you think! However, I’ve found a way around being ghosted and I want to share it with YOU, my friend!
I know all too well what it feels like when you’re super excited about a prospective client and then you never hear back from them again. I bet you’re thinking something along the lines of, should I reach out to them again? Was my pricing too high? Was I not passionate enough? Was I too passionate? Did I do something wrong? The truth is, you may have done something wrong.
Most creatives are under the impression that as long as they have a great product, or they’re the best at what they do, they’ll be able to sell their product or services easily. However, if you’re not great at marketing, there’s a good chance you won’t have great sales, and you’ll often have people ghosting you!
People are busy these days. It’s never a bad idea to follow up because more often than not, your client may have forgotten who they all reached out to. That being said, there’s an art to the follow up that keeps the conversation flowing.
How many of you simply follow up asking, “Did you receive my previous email?” or “Did you have any questions?” THUMBS WAY DOWN, ladies and gents. You have to take responsibility for being ghosted if that’s what you’re following up with. They ghosted you because you’re not engaging enough with them. You’ve become a distant memory.
