Revolutionize Your Relationship With Yourself with Ashley Robinson and D'Arcy Benincosa on The Play It Brave Podcast

Today’s episode features someone who is often requested: my own coach! I have a few different coaches, but one who has been pivotal for my growth this year is Ashley Robinson. Ashley has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, and a coaching diploma from Kingston College in Dublin, Ireland. She has travelled all over the world doing humanitarian work, and is one of the most intellectual women I know. Today she is joining me to talk about personal power and intuition and how it shapes your growth and path to success. If you’re curious what you need to be tapping into in order to be empowered to make sound decisions in your life and business, look no further, and hit play on this episode.

The first thing to note when we’re talking about being empowered or powerful, is shedding the toxic thoughts that this is a masculine energy. Power belongs to you, just as much as any man, and it’s time to harness it. Before you can harness your power, you must understand it.

During the interview, Ashley compared power to force since they are commonly misused, yet they have entirely different meanings. Below we’ve outlined some of the biggest differences in power versus force, but we recommend tuning into the full episode to get all the details.

Power vs. Force:

  • Force is defined as moving against something and it requires energy to continue.
  • Power GIVES life and energy, whereas force takes these away.
  • When you’re in a position of power you’re in a place of service.
  • When you’re in a position of force, you’re in a place of selfishness.
  • Force is externally focused
  • Power is internally sourced

“Being in a place of uncertainty can be fruitful.”

When it comes to becoming empowered to make decisions and to not fall victim to decision fatigue, Ashley recommends getting in touch with four key elements. The Medicine Wheel was created by the Native Americans and used in various ways, but she recommends using it as a checkpoint for yourself when making decisions. We’ve outlined the four checkpoints below, but as always, the full breakdown can be found in the episode.

The Medicine Wheel:

  • What is it for? Tells you how to access your intrinsic self. The sources of information in your complete seat of power in which you can meet life’s circumstances.
  • The MIND is an incredible tool in which you get to solve problems, but also CREATE problems.
  • Your EMOTIONS are a place of connection, universal love, self love, and such a good indicator of whether or not something is right for you.
  • SPIRIT is tapping into a source that is greater than your own. This is the least limited source of information.
  • Your BODY is such a good indicator of your senses and knowing.

“The power of your intuition is not based on the results of following it.”
